The National Consensus Commission has held a meeting with the Election Commission (EC). The meeting discussed the progress of implementing the recommendations of the Electoral Reforms Commission and related issues.

The meeting was held in the conference room of the National Consensus Commission at the Parliament Building on Tuesday evening, a press release from the National Consensus Commission said.

Recently, a consensus was reached on the method of delimiting parliamentary constituencies in discussions with political parties. There will be an expert committee under the EC to delimit the boundaries before the next elections. Based on their recommendations, the EC will redraw the boundaries of the constituencies. In addition, a decision has also been made on delimiting the boundaries in the long term. A source concerned said that the decision of the Consensus Commission on delimiting parliamentary constituencies was conveyed to the EC in Tuesday’s meeting. This issue was discussed in the meeting with the EC. The EC informed the consensus commission that they have already formed such a committee to determine the boundaries. On behalf of the Election Commissioner, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah and Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed participated in the discussion.

On behalf of the National Consensus Commission, Vice President of the Commission Professor Ali Riaz, Commission Member Badiul Alam Majumder, Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, Iftekharuzzaman, Safar Raj Hossain, Md. Ayub Mia and Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Monir Haider were present.
